Emergency Services
If you feel like you are experiencing a mental health emergency and need to be seen by a counselor right away, there are several emergency service options available to you. They are listed based on severity of need.
If there is an immediate threat to self or others, you are strongly encouraged to contact 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.
Counseling and Psychological Services offers emergency crisis phone counseling to UWF students. Call our main number at 850.474.2420 and press option 2 if you need to be transferred to a crisis phone counselor.
Examples of an emergency may include but are not limited to:
- The recent experience of sexual assault.
- The recent death of a significant person in your life.
- Thoughts about harming yourself or someone else.
Teletherapy Services
Counseling and Psychological Services provides teletherapy services for individual therapy, group therapy, couples therapy, and psychiatry. We also provide crisis services through teletherapy. This service may be selected if you are certain that you will be safe from harm until the next business day. That is because this form of crisis service is scheduled within one business day. Teletherapy services are provided to students within the state of Florida only. If you are outside of Florida, or if you need crisis services more quickly, call CAPS and follow the prompts to reach a crisis phone counselor.
